Serra do Curral Park -
Belo Horizonte

Serra do Curral Park is located in the surroundings of Serra do Curral, a national heritage listed by the Institute of National Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN - Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional). It is located in a transition region between the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado, presenting characteristics of both.

The park has hiking and climbing trails and a total of 10 lookouts, despite currently only having 3 of them open to the public. From these lookouts it is possible to have a privileged view of a large part of Belo Horizonte.

The park's fauna is quite rich, with more than 125 species of birds, besides other animals. I was able to register this lovely couple of toucans, a national symbol.

The real attraction of the park is the breathtaking views, from where you can see a large part of the city of Belo Horizonte. From the conglomerates of high buildings to the suburbs with simple houses.

From the lookouts of the park it is possible to see several famous points around the city.

The mansions in the Mangabeiras neighborhood and Praça do Papa (Pope's Square).

Area of Acaba Mundo ("World's End"), used for radio and TV signals transmission for the entire metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte.

In the background, the municipality of Nova Lima and the famous Torre Alta Vila, where the Hard Rock Café operated for 10 years.

Arena Independência ("Independence Arena"), owned by América Futebol Clube. In the background, Mata do Horto, where the Museum of Natural History and Botanical Garden of UFMG is located.

The Mineirão stadium and the Pampulha Lake next to it. On the other side we have UFMG campus.

And lastly we have these wonderful views of birds flying over the horizon.
